What is a Sister City?

A sister city or twin town relationship is a form of legal or social agreement between two geographically and politically distinct localities for the purpose of promoting cultural and commercial ties.  Town twinning begins for a variety of reasons. Generally, partner towns have similar demographics and size. They may arise from business connections, travel, similar industries, diaspora communities, or shared history.

Why is Tingsryd, Sweden our Sister City?

Tingsryd, Sweden is Lindström's Sister City for a variety of reasons.  It is of similar size, demographics and population to Lindström, and is also surrounded by many lakes.  Tingsryd is considered to be "the whole of Småland in one place"- which is the region of Sweden that most of the immigrants that settled in Lindström originally came from.
