The Lindström Fire Department is a volunteer department.

LINDSTRÖM FIRE DEPARTMENT OPENINGS

April 17, 2024:

     The Lindstrom Volunteer Fire Department is in the process of hiring new Fire Fighters.  We will accept applications thru May 17th, 2024, at the end of Business hours.  All questions should be directed to Chief Sellman by contacting him at ssellman@cityoflindstrom.us . 

     Basic requirements are listed below:

  1. Reside withing 5 driving miles of the Lindstrom Fire Station
  1. Exception would be you work Full Time within the city limits of Lindstrom and your employer would allow you to respond to all calls for service.
  1. Be at least 18 years old.
  2. Be able to pass a physical agility test, background check, pre-employment physical and have a valid MN drivers license. 
  3. Have NO driving violations within the last year and do not have a gross misdemeanor or felony conviction.

     The Lindstrom Fire Department is a Volunteer Fire Department.  If hired, we will pay for your Fire Fighter I, Fire Fighter II and Haz Mat awareness training.  You will have one year to complete these courses and will be set up by the fire departments administration.

     You will be issued the equipment needed to preform the duties of a fire fighter and you will be on a one-year probation period. 

     Those with previous Fire Fighting experience or the ability to respond to daytime calls Monday-Friday will receive extra points in the hiring process.  Once the application period closes, the hiring committee will review and rank all applications.  We will then set up a date and time for those moving forward in the process to conduct their physical agility test and initial interview.  Those both will be held on the same day.

     We do not respond to medical calls, but you are required to have basic first aid and cpr/aed training.  Those trainings are done in house during the year.  We do hold two mandatory things each month.  We meet once a month for our monthly meeting and once a month for training.
