City Council Appoints Dan Undem As Lindström's New City Administrator

We are pleased to announce that the City Council has appointed Dan Undem as Lindström's new City Administrator.  Welcome, Dan!  He will start with the City of Lindström on July 6, 2023- just in time for Karl Oskar Days.

Daniel Undem currently serves as the Assistant City Administrator for Forest Lake and brings over twenty years of public and private sector experience.  Undem has a Master’s Degree in business administration from St. Mary’s University, Minnesota and Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Minnesota, Duluth.  Dan and his family live in the Chisago Lakes area.

City Administrator Search Process

In December of 2022, Lindström’s City Administrator resigned, and in January of 2023, the City Council appointed Deputy Clerk/Office Manager Melissa (Missy) Glenna as the Interim City Administrator.  The City has been assisted in the recruitment of a new City Administrator by GovHR USA, an executive recruitment and management consulting firm that specializes in local government.  26 candidates applied for the City Administrator position.  The City Council met on May 9th to narrow the pool to a final list of 4 candidates.  These candidates were then interviewed by the City Council, City Staff, and a panel of residents.  After the interviews, the City Council held a special meeting to discuss and determine the next City Administrator, and voted unanimously to extend an offer to Daniel (Dan) Undem.  At a Special City Council Meeting on June 5, 2023 at 5pm, City Council voted unanimously to appoint Daniel Undem as Lindström's new City Administrator, and to approve his employment contract.
